This course is curated from webinar archives from the International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP).
This module explores how inclusive technology can move organizations beyond traditional accommodations toward creating a truly inclusive workplace where all employees can thrive. Whether it’s supporting those with neurodivergent profiles, disabilities or multilingual backgrounds, inclusive technology has the power to unlock potential and drive long-lasting success. By focusing on real-world tools and strategies, we’ll explore how inclusive technology can streamline workflows, ensure compliance with accessibility standards and foster a culture of belonging.
In this module, the presenter explores the work done to shift digital accessibility from an engineering afterthought to better planning in the product and design stages and expanding out into the hiring, onboarding, and HR roles. The presenter provides an overview of how to ignite culture change in job postings, inclusive interviews, accessible onboarding, HR policies that accommodate for people with disabilities, as well as discussing the idea of encouraging browsers and assistive technology vendors to continue supporting global standards.
This module provides a roadmap with 15 key strategies to foster a diverse and empowered workplace. Some of the key points include building a strong foundation through inclusive hiring practices, developing inclusive leadership qualities, and cultivating employee engagement.
Research suggests that although 90% of companies claim to prioritize diversity and inclusion in their workplace, only 4% consider disability in those initiatives. In this module, the presenter discusses why businesses need to move disability inclusion to the core of their DE&I strategy and the business benefits of promoting inclusion and universal access.
Various disability legislation exists to ensure employees with disabilities (EWD) have equal access to perform core job functions, from the hiring process to the use of all internal systems and communication within an enterprise, which include requests for accommodation, training and Helpdesk support, as well as greater access to IT systems and electronic documents. In this module, the presenters walk through the infrastructure and processes that organizations need to fully support their employees with disabilities.
